I have to say that there’s a lot of stuff written in the press about Twitter: the micro-blogging service that is a bit like Facebook status on steroids without the nonsense of having to admire baby or pet photos — will it or won’t it take off as the ‘next big thing’ — who cares if I’m bored of searching on GettyImages or whether I’m feeling slightly billious after eating a Three Compasses thai on a Friday afternoon. Stephen Fry in particular currently has 271,901 followers and somehow, he is managing to follow 54,329 of them — does he get time to do anything else? But before you pass it off as a fad that will be on tomorrows chip paper, or as a tool just to stalk celebrities check out this TED talk by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams. In it, he talks about his ‘side project’ that ended up taking over his life and the many uses that evolved out of Twitter. Very interesting…
