so while we’re talking about music…

paper_toshio2pdf-1-pageI came across the Tenori-On via Ian at Crackunit. What is a Tenori-On you say?

‘Media artist Toshio Iwai and Yamaha have collaborated to design a new digital musical instrument for the 21st century, TENORI-ON. A 16×16 matrix of LED switches allows everyone to play music intuitively, creating a “visible music” interface.’

Even ones like the piano and violin used to be completely new instruments. I am impressed by the fact that these new instruments fascinated many musicians and audiences, and new music and culture saw the light. [Read on]

Anyway, so back to the music, here’s a video of Little Boots playing Hot Chip’s Ready For the Floor on a Tenori-On… which is almost as good as the soulwax remix.
